PM Modi Reaffirms India–Mauritius Ties in National Day Message

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has conveyed his warm greetings to the people of Mauritius on the occasion of the country’s National Day.

In a letter addressed to Mauritian Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam, Mr Modi recalled that it had been a particular privilege for him to participate in Mauritius’ National Day celebrations last year, describing the visit as a historic moment in relations between the two countries.

India and Mauritius share longstanding historical, cultural and people-to-people links, and cooperation between the two nations has expanded across several strategic sectors over the years.

The Indian prime minister also referred to Dr Ramgoolam’s recent visit to India last month to attend the AI Impact Summit. According to Mr Modi, the visit gave renewed momentum to the partnership between the two countries and reinforced the close ties that bind them.

Mr Modi concluded his message by extending his best wishes to Prime Minister Ramgoolam and his spouse, Mrs Veena Ramgoolam, while expressing his hopes for continued prosperity and progress for the Mauritian people.
