President Trump Highlights Strength of US–Mauritius Partnership

US President Donald Trump has underscored the strength of relations between the United States and Mauritius in a message sent to Mauritian Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam on the occasion of the country’s 58th anniversary of independence and the 34th anniversary of its Republic.

In his letter, President Trump noted that Mauritius and the United States continue to maintain a strong bilateral relationship, supported in part by what he described as a unique partnership in maritime security.

The US president also welcomed the forthcoming US–Africa Business Summit, scheduled to take place in Mauritius in July 2026. The event, he said, is expected to further strengthen economic and commercial ties while expanding opportunities for bilateral trade and investment between the two partners.

According to the US leader, the summit should contribute to deepening engagement between American businesses and African markets, while also supporting broader economic cooperation with Mauritius.

President Trump further indicated that he looks forward to the continuation of the partnership between the United States and Mauritius. He concluded his message by extending his best wishes to Prime Minister Ramgoolam and to the Mauritian people for the year ahead.
